Silver
Ghost
Silver Ghost is a very special Gold Rush Replica
made by Easy Racers in Freedom,
California. She is one of three that the Company President, Gardner
Martin made for 3 "ladies of a certain age" a.k.a.
The Golden Girls. They are made of lighter weight aluminum tubing
than the normal Gold Rush Replicas.
This is a photo of me in the factory the day I picked up Ghost.
I just couldn't stop smiling. We drove to California to the factory
5 days after arriving home from 5 weeks in Southern France. The
fact that I was walking around 2 feet off the ground could be attributed
to jet lag, but I think it was more like total delirium to finally
get this wonderful bike. Gardner had her name right there on the
frame for all the world to see:
Maxi's SILVER GHOST.
In an effort to keep it light,
I made a small bag, for tools, out of light weight nylon which fits
on the back of the Cobra seat. The flag seems extremely undignified
for such a lovely bike, but after being threatened by a few SUVs,
a flag seemed a small price for safety.
Fantasy Land

Palm Springs in January is a good place to
be when the rains are falling in Portland.
