It was difficult to choose photos which represented
the trip without being repetitous. The photographer can be much
more interested in her pictures than the web site visitor.
Our
brief sojurn into the Czech Republic was in conjunction with
a tour sold by REI. As with many of their foreign tours, this
was subcontracted to a Czech tour group. The Czech company was
able to bring their bus into Vienna to meet us. We began with
dinner the evening before we began our ride.
Una stands by the pile of luggage accumulated in the lobby
of the Vienna hotel as we wait to be picked up by the Czech
bus that will take us out of Vienna where we begin riding.
The bus is quite fancy with a television set for
viewing cassettes
as
well as an espresso machine. Neither of which were ever used.
The young man in profile is one of our leaders. We called him
Mic as he assured us that we didn't want to remember his name
as pronounced in Czech. The two leaders were college students
and the driver who was slightly older was a professional bus
driver. He was definitely a pro as proven by the small amount
of space through which he could navigate the bus.

Lunch is served most days at a pleasant spot along
the road. The leaders provided folding chairs so that we never
had to sit on the ground. We only had a table to sit around
if we were at a public picnic area such as this.
The group did not ride from Vienna to Prague.
Instead, we were bused to areas which were deemed to be more
scenic or historic in nature and then we rode segments of the
route. We were driven to the south eastern area of the Czech
Republic and proceeded to Prague in a zig zag fashion.
